Country Information
Country Information Botswana
In Botswana you can explore the deserts, savannahs, wetlands, the delta and the game reserves of one of the wildest regions in Africa. And it is, above all, the varied fauna with the vast number of game which have their home in the famous National Parks Chobe, Moremi, and Central Kalahari.
Botswana is home to approximately 1.6 million people on an area which is almost as large as France. The original inhabitants were the San (Bushmen) who still live in the Kalahari, the east of Namibia and in the west of Botswana. In spite of the low population, the human being has left his tracks here which resulted in the creation of National Parks, Wildlife Areas and Game Reserves which cover around 17% of the country and help preserve nature. Botswana is seen today as one of the wildest areas in Africa. The Okavango Delta certainly is one of the main attractions of Botswana. The Moremi National Park which covers more than a third of the delta is a bird's paradise and has a vast variety of animal species.
Just as exciting are Chobe and Central Kalahari National Parks. Both still are in their original and untouched natural state, extremely dry and a challenge to both man and beast.
Botswana offers travellers wonderful and diverse experiences in pristine natural environments. The shimmering salt pans of Makgadikgadi and Nxai are believed to be the largest in the world, looking like glaring white endless plains. When the rain comes a dramatic change is seen as the pans come to life with frantically feeding water birds and numerous herds of game. Indeed they can become a life-menacing trap for humans and animals. Accompany us in the exciting adventures of the National Parks of Botswana....

If you suffer from side effects, try taking your malaria prophylactics at night, after dinner as this usually minimises the effect of the symptoms.
Take precautionary measures to prevent contact with mosquitoes, like: sleeping under a bed-net or in a room/tent with mosquito proofing (remember to keep the flaps zipped at all times); spraying your accommodation with insecticide; making use of a mosquito-repelling lotion or stick; and wearing long-sleeve clothing, long trousers and socks when outside at night.
