Sambura and Shaba National Park

Shaba Wildlife Reserve - with a size of 130 km² - is located in the Northern Frontier District, east of Buffalo Springs Reserve, directly on top of Great North Road. The name of the reserve originates from a vulcanic rock.  To reach this remote area you would have to cross an impressive flow of lava which proofs the intensity of this vulcanic activity. While on game drives you will be able to view small herds of elephants, zebras, leopards, giraffes, oryx-antelopes and more than a 100 different bird species.

Samburu National Reserve is situated closely to the near Buffalo Springs Reserve and Shaba N.P. in the half desert north of Kenya at 800 to 1200 m. Here, you will find open grassavannah and thorn bush savannah. The life line of this area is river Uaso Nyiro whos name originates from the tribe Samburu and means " river with brown water".  Samburu warriors/nomads are closely related to the Masai warriors/nomads. The park provides a home to a large population of elephants. Moreover, it is home to the grevy-zebra, oryx-antelope, reticulated giraffe among others.
