Kalahari
The Kalahari stretches from the northern cape province in South Africa to Namibia and Botswana until Angola and Sambia with a size of more than 1,2 Million km². The Kalahari is the biggest sands in the world. It is one of the biggest wildlife reserves in Africa and was declared a Wildlife Reserve/National Park already in 1931 from South Africa and in 1938 from Botswana. In 1999 the Kalahari Park was merged with adjacent Gemsbok National Park in Botswana and renamed in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. This huge wildlife reserve whose surface encompasses around 36.000 km² gives insights in the fascinating landscape of the Kalahari with its orange-red dunes and its fauna that has been adapted to this dry surrounding. Despite less rainfall the picturesque landscape surprises with various reptiles, wildlife- and bird species. But also gemsebok, eland antelopes, gnus, cheetahs, lions, hyena and many others find their home in the Kalahari.
